Consultation Fees
The fees below apply to consultations with Dr Emily Twidale. Medicare rebates are available for patients with a valid referral from their GP or specialist.
Medicare rebates may increase once you reach the Medicare Safety Net threshold.
Surgical Fees
If surgery is recommended, you will receive a written quote before making any decisions about treatment.
The total cost of surgery varies depending on the procedure and may include fees from:
Dr Emily Twidale
The hospital
The anaesthetist
Any assisting surgeons or specialists involved in your care
We encourage patients with private health insurance to contact their health fund to confirm their level of cover and any expected out-of-pocket expenses.
Our practice generally follows the Australian Medical Association's recommended fee schedule. As a result, there is often a gap between the surgical fee and the amount reimbursed by Medicare and your private health insurer.
Public Hospital Surgery Referrals
Some patients choose to have their surgery performed through the public hospital system.
Where Dr Emily prepares referrals, investigations and supporting documentation for surgery to be performed by a hospital-allocated surgeon at Northern Health or the Royal Women's Hospital, a one-off administrative fee of $250 applies.
Payment
Payment is required on the day of your appointment.
Where possible, Medicare rebates can be processed electronically within one week of the appointment, with the rebate deposited directly into your nominated bank account.
